Music Review: Justin Bieber - Sorry (Single) 10/10

I have always been a Bieber fan but over recent years I just haven't been all that impressed, we all know he has had his problems and his music has reflected that. But, the boys is back with an all new style, a new attitude and a new album which is due to be released November 13th.

In the lead up to the album he released the incredible first single "What Do You Mean" and now we have the second single "Sorry" which is my opinion is even better than the first!

Justin new sound is reminiscent of tropical house music (in my opinion) with addictive instrumental hooks, Justin's voice sounds great alongside his new style and I think it was a great direction to take his music in. He really needed a change of musical direction and he really hit the nail on the head with this one!

"Sorry" is produced by Skrillex which really does show, in an amazing way! They work so well together, I really hope they work together on more songs for the album. I was excited for the album after the release of "What Do You Mean" but now I am so excited I can barely contain myself!

Next car album? I think so!

Pinterest: Last Minute Halloween Looks For Lazy Girls!

I love halloween, the idea of elaborate costumes and horrifying makeup with special effects but I just don't have the time. For years now I have had no plans in the lead up to Halloween then at the last minute a party will pop up or work tell us we need to dress up and I am completely unprepared. Or sometimes, I have an amazing costume planned but when it comes to executing it, it looks rubbish. Often, my ideas are just too difficult to actually make a reality!

If you haven't had time to plan an outfit, if you are invited to a last minute party and you haven't had the time to raid pinterest... I've done it for you!

I have picked a selection of super simple halloween looks that can mostly be created with just liquid liner and some eyeshadow!

How scary is this?! If you are makeup crazy like me, you might have a red liquid liner but if not you could just use a black one or create the look with red eyeshadow and an eyebrow brush.

I have been a broken doll for the past few halloweens because it is just so simple, you can create the look with mostly just your usual everyday makeup! I like to make mine a little scarier with a stitched mouth and dark bruising around my eyes.

The cat is ultimate quick and easy, throw the makeup look on with a little black dress and you're ready to go!

The bottom two are so sexy and modern, I really love how they look and they can literally be created with just a liquid liner. I think I might use one of these ideas myself!

All these looks can be done with just your normal foundation but they look so much scarier with a white base making you look extra dead! The best way to do this is to mix some white face paint with your foundation but if its super last minute and you don't have any, you could dust your face with white eyeshadow.

I hope this has helped you with your last minute halloween attire! If you do get time though, fake blood. Fake blood everywhere.

Halloween: What To Watch

I have a huge film collection, a whole wall covered in blu rays and dvds. Every holiday my boyfriend and I will pull out all the films that we want to watch over that holiday, we also raid netflix, of course.

This Halloween we have chosen some awesome things to watch, mostly things we have seen before and loved, one that is new to us this year.

Hotel Transylvania is one of my favourite halloweenie kids films, it is so underrated. Hotel Transylvania 2 is out in cinemas now, I went to see it the other day and although it is not as good as the first; it did get me in the spooky spirit.

Monster House and Coraline are classics! So scary that they are borderline unsuitable for children but just so incredible good at the same time. Coraline will give you nightmares of buttons and spiders for sure.

I'm not sure how long this series has been on Netflix but recently everyone has been watching it. It is a Netflixs original series based on the Scream films, it is more jumpy than scary but it is great fun trying to guess the killer. I would totally recommend it!

I like blood and guts in a horror, I don't do supernatural or paranormal. Give me a slasher any day!

The remake of Evil Dead is incredibly scary and gory, the effects are amazing and so unbelievably real looking. When I saw this at the cinema, people were actually leaving because they were so scared!

The Scream series are a must for halloween, they will have you on the edge of your seat while biting all your nails until they are nothing but nubs. When a film turns your fingers to nubs you know that it's good.

You need to watch Halloween at halloween. You just do. I do love the originals because they are super jumpy and intense but my favourites are the remakes.

Beetlejuice is more of a quirky kind of scary, it is such a good film and I watch it every Halloween!

Harpers Island is a series that was first aired in 2009, it wasn't renewed for a second season which I just don't understand because it is so good! I actually watched it for the first time last year because my boyfriend told me how good it was, it is another guess the killer series; I really enjoy guessing the killer and I guessed this one pretty early on which really surprised my boyfriend as he never thought I would get it!

Let me know your favourite things to watch at Halloween in the comments!

Music Review: Demi Lovato - Confident 7/10

There must be something in the water with ex Disney star album releases. Selena Gomez last week, Hilary Duff not long ago, the Jonas boys are popping up all over the place and now Demi Lovato with her fifth studio album.

I wasn't all that excited for this one really, I loved her first two albums then the next two were a little hit and miss for me. I did like them but they didn't exactly knock my socks off and I didn't find myself listening to them much. She has been working towards a more adult album for years and each time has still felt not quite mature enough but this album I feel like has skipped the adult/mature themes and gone straight for the sex appeal. Good or bad? Let's see...

1. Confident

This track is the second single from the album and the albums name. It has a lot to live up to. Unfortunately, is it pretty throw away for me, it isn't a bad song at all and it has a great message but I just find it boring. I don't not like it but I just find my self skipping it. It also feels quite dated which I think happened a lot through out this album.

What's wrong with being confident?

2. Cool For The Summer

First single off the album and it is a great one but saying that, it doesn't proceed the album well. It doesn't seem to fit well despite it being a good song. It is very Katy Perry like, it is an upbeat, sexy and open minded track which I love! It great to hear an artist singing about being sexy and free but also being open minded towards what sexy is. Demi is doing a great job of redefining what sexy is which her gorgeous curves and empowering songs, I love the song but I feel out of place alongside the rest of the album.

Tell me what you want
What you like
It's okay
I'm a little curious, too
Tell me if it's wrong
If it's right
I don't care
I can keep a secret, can you?

3. Old Ways

This song is a real gem, it is a really personal song for Demi as it is telling the world and all the haters that she is not going to go back on all the personal progress she has made. We all know Demi has issues with drugs and other things, she did amazingly overcoming all her problems and this song is a beautiful shout that she will not fail. It has a super dated late 2000's vibe that actually works really well here, my favourite part is the bridge...

And the best part about it
Is I'm the only who can do somethin' about it
I fill the well with some water, it's overflowin'
Black into gold
Who knew it'd be so bright without the blindfolds

4. For You

This song is a little bit throw away also. For from being a bad song but it just doesn't have that pull that keeps you listening. It does however, show off Demi's beautiful strong voice so well, I like the song but it just isn't the best this album has to offer.

Reasons for my hope, all make me a big joke

5. Stone Cold

Stone Cold has been raved about by reviews and I totally get why. In classic Demi style, this is a belted out ballad and she sounds incredible. I am not the hugest fan of ballads which is probably part of the reason why Demi's previous albums have been so hit and miss for me, for other people though this could be a huge favourite.

You're dancing with her, while I'm staring at my phone

6. Kingdom Come

This song features Iggy Azalea which is something I was really excited about as I am a big fan. I love this song, it perfectly blends Iggy's sounds with Demi's and it creates something truly addictive. I definately played this a repeat for some time and I still love it which is a good sign! The chorus does sound like it could have been cut from Iggy's Black Widow though, so it would have been nice to hear something a little more different.

A love so deep, nothing else like it
Scars go deep, but they can't find it

7. Waitin' For You

Featuring "Sirah" who I've never heard of, Waiting' For You is a strong song with the theme of bullying. But I think it sounds too aggressive in the lyrics, I would have rather a deeper message to be present because this just doesn't feel right to me. I like the song but it isn't a favourite at all.

Knuckles out
And the guard in my mouth
When you're hungry for the next round (I'll be waitin' for you)

8. Wildfire

This is by far my favourite song on the album and get a huge 10 from me. It is sexy, slow building and shows off Demi's voice perfectly. I love the depth in the lyrics and the intensity of the music, if you only listen to one song from this album make it this one.

I look into your sunset eyes
Waiting for the moon to rise
So I can feel your heat
This love is so completely crazy

9. Lionheart

Another ballad, sort of. It's a little more upbeat that your usual ballad but I still feel like it is a ballad. I like this one, it definitely isn't a stand out but it is a solid song. It feels really Demi which is nice, I feel like we are glimpsing a little more of Demi herself on this track.

Our story binds us
Like right and wrong
Your hand in mine
Marching to the beat of the storm

10. Yes

The way Demi sings the word Yes on this track is lovely, its so well controlled and beautiful. The whole song is well built and well sung but I must admit that I prefer the verses and the build to the chorus more than I like the actual chorus.

Here's my tears when you tell me those words
Here's my life, for better or worse

11. Father

I don't like this at all. The lyrics are great and it is interesting to hear Demi's feelings about her father but the song itself is just boring and it sounds creepy and churchy. It's pretty horrible. Best of skipping this track.

Father, I'm gonna say thank you
Even if I'm still hurt
Oh, I'm gonna say bless you
I wanna mean those words

12. Stars

First of two deluxe edition tracks, Stars is a very modern dance track. It feels like the old Demi again,  except the weird quacking noises that just shouldn't even be here, this is a good song. With a few changes this could be a gem of a song but unfortunately it slightly misses the mark when trying to be different.

And we really don't need the light
Cause we're stars tonight

13. Mr. Hughes

This song has been compared to Amy Winehouse which is probably why I'm not a fan, I never liked Amy Winehouse at all. If you did then maybe you'll love this track but it's just not for me.

This is for the times you broke my heart
And all the years you led me on
Now you're asking for a brand new start
But you're way too late and now I'm gone

As you can tell, this is a super hit and miss album for me but there are a few showstopper that make this album worth the listen. I do however like it more than I expected I would which is great, I will continue to follow Demi's career but I think we have outgrown each other.

Thoughts?

First Impressions: Essence - All About Vintage Palette

Essence is a budget brands that has been around for a while but it has been unavailable to me where I live until quite recently, it is now available in Wilkinsons stores. Wilkinson are a huge chain in the UK which sell all sorts for things from homeware to pet care and everything in between, I go there weekly to get food and hay for my guineapigs so for this reason, I really wanted to like Essence products.

It would be so easy to pick up makeup things I needed while there every week, it would make my life so much simpler to be able to pick up the essentials I need instead of driving all the way to my local shopping centre.

I was having a browses through the products today, basket of sawdust in one hand and picking the display apart with the other. I came across this little palette.

It drew me in because due to the top line of shades which are mostly green based. I've said before, that I am on the hunt for the perfect dark green eyeshade so I had to buy this. I was also impressed with the packaging, it only cost £4.00 but it looks classy and sturdy which I really liked. It is a cute little palette that will look lovely on my vanity but will also travel well as the palette is so small and strong.

Left:       One       Two       Three       Four       Five       Six       Seven       Eight       :Right

I have swatched the shades on my finger tips to talk through with you. Stupidly, I swatched them all backwards so the way the line reads in the palette is opposite on my fingers but I'm hoping you can figure them out. I'll explain them left to right based on my fingers.

Shades One to Four show the top row of shadows, they are mostly green bases with the intention of them being used together. Shades Five to Eight show the bottom row which are brown/nude based.

One

This is a deep dark green with fine glitters, the glitters don't show up well on the skin which is actually a good thing for me. The colour is bold and dark but still beautifully green, I think I will get a huge amount of wear out of this one

Two

In the pan I wasn't sure I would love this one, it looks very light and I thought it would be hard to use but in actuality it is a lot darker than it looks, it has a gorgeous olive base and I think I will be able to use this as an all over lid shade.

Three

First of the pale shades! This is a shimmery smooth light olive shade, I like it. I would work really well for blending or as an inner corner colour.

Four

This shade is a champagne taupe, it is a unique colour but I'm thinking it will be a little too white based for me. I will give it a go though.

Five

First colour in the second row. This one is a deep shimmery chocolate brown, it is so lovely and I'm really exited to use it. I think it might be a little hard to use because of how dark it is but I am willing to try!

Six

A lighter version of the previous colour, it completely follows the previous colours tones and they will work so well together. This shade would work as a great all over lid colour which would be super easy to wear alone.

Seven

Following the theme, this is a lighter version of the previous. Would also work as an all over lid colour if blended well because it is very light.

Eight

Last shade! This one is a really light shimmery blush pink, it would work well as an inner corner highlight.

Overall thoughts are that this palette has some great shades but there are far too many light shades that will be hard to work with. The pigmentation however, is fantastic! They are super creamy, pigmented and gorgeously shimmery. I am super impressed with the formula in general.

I will definitely be buying some more items from Essence but I might go for single shadows next time so that I can get a bigger variety. I have heard through watching MissBudgetBeauty on youtube that Essence lipliners are great, so I might investigate into those next!

Music Review: Selena Gomez - Revival 9/10

If you have read this blog much or know me at all, you'll know I love Selena Gomez. I just love her. She is beautiful, talented and this album is an embodiment of those things and more. As always, I am going to review the deluxe edition because I feel like the bonus tracks are always my favourite and in this case, they are.

Revival has an incredible 16 songs to immerse yourself in, it is the kind of album you can can listen to alone and sing along while feeling like a total diva.

1. Revival

As the album opener this song works really well. It begins with Selena breathing her way through a paragraph about being reborn, it is super cheesy but somehow works really well. This album shows huge growth for Selena as an artist but also as a person, the lyrics through out emphasis this which sets the albums theme perfectly. The song itself is relatively slow paced and gentle, very repetitive but in a good way.

What I've learned is so vital
More than just survival
This is my revival, this is my revival
This is a revival

2. Kill Em With Kindness

Another relatively slow paced song with enticing whistling through out. The chorus is mostly just whistling with "kill em with kindness" repeated over and over with a gentle but dance orientated beat. I really love this song, it is really relaxing and beautiful. It also has a pretty great message.

Your lies are bullets
Your mouth's a gun
And no war in anger
Was ever won
Put out the fire before igniting
Next time you’re fighting

3. Hands To Myself

I love this one. It is a definite favourite. The way Selena uses her voice in the pre chorus is different territory for her but it is really intriguing in a great way, the pre chorus is a little show stopper that leads onto an equally lovely chorus. It is again a calm song but it somehow still has a powerful feel.

Can't keep my hands to myself
I mean I could, but why would I want to?

4. Same Old Love

Same Old Love is a great song (reviewed a few weeks ago) but I fail to see why it was released as the albums second single when there are so many better options available. It is an addictive song that will get stuck in your head but I stick to my previous review that it doesn't feel like Selena and it is overly receptive. Don't get my wrong, I love it but its not the albums best offering.

You can't believe, still can't believe it
You left in peace, left me in pieces
Too hard to breathe, I'm on my knees

5. Sober

Sober is both upbeat but also a kind of ballad, to me anyway. The lyrics are beautiful, they sing of being so in love with someone who can't love without the help of alcohol. I think she is talking about someone not with a drinking problem but someone who has a problem showing feelings so the only time she glimpses his love is when he is wasted. The lyrics require a good listening too to understand exactly what is being said bit it's worth it. A really great song.

You don't know how to love me when you're sober
When the bottle's done you pull me closer
And you're saying all the things that you're supposed to
But you don't know how to love me when you're sober

6. Good For You

Good For You was the first single from this album and it was a great choice. Not because it was the best song but because it is the most addictive on first listen and it really does embody the rest of the album. This song will have brought Selena a lot of new audience as well. Which she deserves.

This song is a slow building masterpiece of sexy lyrics and breathy vocals.

Gonna wear that dress you like, skin-tight
Do my hair up real, real nice
And syncopate my skin to how you're breathing

7. Camouflage

So far the albums theme has been pretty mellow but this is the first real ballad on the album. Selena's ballads of past albums have been good but not her stand outs and the same theme is present here, although this is an improvement. I just feel like the song lacks depth in the lyrics and it is a little boring and repetitive. Still a great song but definitely one of my least favourites from the album.

Fortress around my heart
You were mine just yesterday
Now I have no idea who you are

8. Me & The Rhythm

I love this song, it is a real upbeat dance track with a huge Kylie Minogue feel. It is fantastic to turn up loud in the car and scream along too, the song is sexy and flirty. It feels like it could have been on her Stars Dance album which I loved, so it is nice to have a little of the old Selena still on show.

If you feel like you're the spark
Then come out of the dark

9. Survivors

Another relaxing dance song, the chorus has a gorgeous chiming sound that is really hard to explain but it gives the song a really modern and smooth feel. The lyrics are lovely, they have more depth that the song initially would suggest. It is a real sing along track and I am in love with it.

ou built me from a broken heart
With bricks you made from broken parts

10. Body Heat

Body Heat genuinely sounds like it could be a Jennifer Lopez song. Which is a comparison that will come up again before the end of this review but in this case I like it. The chorus is crazy addictive to the point that I sang the same line over and over again for days, I even started to annoy myself.

My red lips have found a new obsession

11. Rise

I wouldn't be surprised if this song ends up on a Disney Soundtrack, especially the first verse sounds like it wouldn't be out of place in the Lion King. The chorus sounds fully Selena but then the speaking bridge sounds like All Saints. Its a really odd combination but somehow it does work. Ill be honest in saying that it is not my favourite on the album but there is no denying that it is a great song.

So even when your bones feel like weights
And it’s hard to lift the smile on your perfect face
You can still find a peaceful place

Deluxe Edition Bonus Tracks

12. Me & My Girls

This is the only song on the whole album that I just don't like at all and it is the only reason why I didn't rate the album a 10. Again, it sounds like Jennifer Lopez but mixed with Iggy Azalea, Jason Derulo and Miley Cyrus. It is a real strange mix and i'd would be interested to see if other people see these comparisons or if it's just me?! It just doesn't do it for me.

Never felt more, more alive
I got my chicas by my side

13. Nobody

Now begins the string of incredible songs that really should have been on the main edition. Nobody is a gorgeous ballad with breathy vocals and claps through out, Selena really shines here and for me this is Selena at her finest.

No kiss, no lips, no feel, no rush
Can you keep me high, I swear no one
Can love me like you do, can love me like you do

14. Perfect

Perfect is the best song on this album, it is incredible and I am head over heels in love with it. It is the most beautiful song I have heard in forever. I think the song is about not a cheating boyfriend like it may seem at first but a girl who is in an open relationship with a man that she wants more with. I feel like the girl is feeling insecure because she wants this man all to herself but she feels the other women is better than she is and she doesn't stand a chance against someone so perfect. I think it is a song that could be read in a lot of ways but that is how I read it.

The song has an early 2000's feel to it and it is, well, Perfect.

I can taste her lipstick and see her laying across your chest
I can feel the distance every time you remember her fingertips
Maybe I should be more like her

15. Outta My Hands (Loco)

I don't know why I love this so much but I do. It just makes me want to sing, dance and generally just get up and go crazy. It is an incredible song that simply should have made the main track listings.

They say you shouldn’t sleep with
Someone crazier than you

16. Cologne

This is the last song on the album and it finished the album off on such a perfect note. I like the think that this song is about the man from "Perfect" I feel like she is singing about how she feels about this man, how he makes her feel and how much she wishes he would see this and be there with her. It is a beautiful song that sees Selena completely smashing the ballad.

In my room, from the ceiling to the floor
My body knows that you've been here before

My only complaints towards this album is that Me & My Girls shouldn't be here and that the bonus tracks are the best songs on the whole album. It makes me sad to think that Selena and her label didn't feel these songs were good enough for the main edition. Overall, I am more than impressed with this offering and it will definitely be on repeat in my car for many months to come. At least till christmas. Let me know if you have the album and are as in love as I am!

Also, how incredible is the album art!

Best of Boots 3 for 2 - The Food Lover

Left:          One          Two          Three          Four         Five          :Right

Everyone has a food lover in their lives, someone who loves to bake, loves to eat out or enjoys a variety of fancy teas. This instalment of Best Of Boots is for those people.

Boots has always had a great range of food and drink related gifts but this year the selection is even better and there is something for every price range. I have included some very feminine gifts, all gifts would suit a women actually but there are a few that the gentlemen in your life will enjoy also.

Starbucks is a favourite for so many people and what is more luxury than this gorgeous set of dusting flavours for a finishing touch on coffees and hot chocolates. This would be a great gift for both sexes and at only £10.00 it is super affordable too.

Keeping with the hot drinks theme, TEA! Tea is a classic British addiction that most people have, this set boast 9 different teas to try which makes it a tea lovers dream! The packing also looks really fancy and would be so exciting to unwrap! Not only unwrap but it is a perfect rectangle box that will be so fun to wrap and decorate with christmassy goodness.

Moving on to the more feminine gifts, probable due to my recent love for The Great British Bake Off.          This Rosies Pantry Recipe Book is the cutest thing in the world, I think this would be great for mums, nans or just people who love to create recipes. It has different sections for different types of food and is generally super pretty.

A service bell isn't the most practical object these days but I'm in love with it. It is shiny, vintage and would look so cute in a kitchen to add a little feminine touch.

Spoons! Ive been wanting measuring spoons for ages because I am a terrible baker mostly because I don't measure stuff properly. If I had measuring spoons this lovely I definitely would take a little more notice!

I hope my top picks have helped you with your christmas shopping or just in treating yourself! Until next time! Bye!

Pumpkin Picking!

Today we decided to embrace Halloween and go pumpkin picking with the family. My boyfriend Liam and I, his brother, his brothers fiance and their two gorgeous boys wrapped up in coats and wellies and went along to a local farm to pick some spooky pumpkins! We had a really lovely time trudging through a huge field full of pumpkins, getting covered in mud and gathering up a collection of pumpkins in all different shapes, sizes and colours.

I had never been pumpkin picking before but I will definitely be doing it every year from now on!

MakeUp Review: Tanya Burr - Peachy Glow Cheek Palette

I posted a review a while ago of one of Tanya Burr's Eyeshadow palettes and although I liked it, I didn't love it. So when she released two cheek palettes I wasn't sure I needed one but as usual, I ended up buying one anyway and I'm glad I did because I am in love.

The palette adorns the same design as the eye palettes, it is cute and functional, not exactly expensive looking but what more can you ask for for £8.00. The palette is perfect to be displayed on a vanity but it is also perfect for travel as it is three products in one, relatively compact and I doubt it would break when thrown around.

Inside the palette you are greeted with three huge pans of product. A bronzer, a blusher and a highlighter. Most palettes of this kind have a really large bronzer and super small everything else, it makes sense to have a larger bronzer because you use more of it but the small everything else is really annoying. This palette hit the nail on the head with the generous large bronze and the equally generous and almost as large blush and highlight.

This palette really is all about the girly details, each pan of product has embossed decoration of lines, hearts and stars. It really adds to the femininity of the product and emphasises just how much effort was put into the design, which I love.

Left:           Champagne Shimmer          Apricot Flush          Beach Bronze          :Right

Now lets talk about the products themselves, much like the eyeshadows the texture of the product is gorgeously soft and buttery. But unlike the eyeshadows, all the products are incredible. They are pigmented, shimmery and just perfect for everyday wear but also gorgeous applied a little heavier for the evening.

Champagne Shimmer (Highlighter)

I haven't tried many highlighters because of the few I have tried, I just end up feeling glittery. I didn't think highlighter suited me so I just didn't use any, I didn't think I was missing anything despite the constant addiction everyone else in the beauty world has. Until I used this one. It just looked perfect on my skin, it is the right shade, it glides on so smoothly and the pigmentation is just ridiculous.

Apricot Flush (Blusher)

This blusher is beautiful, it can be applied lightly for a subtle everyday colour or a little heavier for a more intense apricot glow. It has some shimmer in it which add lovely dimension to your face without making you look too shimmery.

Beach Bronze (Bronzer)

I love this so much, it balances the perfect amount of pigment and shimmer. I use this everyday for my contour shade and then dust a little more all over my face to add a bronze glow to my whole face or if I want to look a little more chiseled I will used a matte contour to carve out my cheek bones then add a layer of this on top to add more dimension. I think it is a really universal shade that can be used in so many different ways, I haven't tried it yet but I think it would even work well as an eyeshadow.

I am so impressed! This palette is such good quality! Every product is beautifully pigmented and creamy, shimmery products in the drug store can often have a crumbly texture and just look chalky on your face but this is nothing like that. It honestly feels high end, if the packaging was more expensive looking then it could be sold for so much more. This palette gives you affordability and fantastic quality so I literally love it. It is a new staple in my beauty routine.

Do yourself a favour and buy it. Now.
