Movie Review: Avengers Age Of Ultron

I am a huge Marvel fan but I know that they do fail sometimes. Such as in the case of Avengers Assemble, the first Avengers film was a mess with too many characters and not enough development, I didn't enjoy it at all and I would honestly say it is the worst Marvel film to date. Due to this, I didn't have high hopes for this sequel.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Age of Ultron still had the same hollow jokes and boring character banter but the storyline was much improved and I feel that the characters finally got the development they needed. No enough, maybe but it was a start. Marvel seem to think that just because the characters have their own films that they don't need development when all the characters are together but this is not true. Every character needs to be continuously developing and changing but it seems as though they just stay the same and no matter what happens to each character they still stay the same. But as I said, there was an improvement in this instalment which I found very refreshing.

I might be the only person in the world to say this but I didn't like Loki as a villain, he is an embarrassment. Full of cheesy lines and boring back stories but Ultron was a really good new villain in my opinion, I did feel that again they skimped on his development but he added the sinister and actual evil that Loki lacked. The scene early on in the film where Ultron first confronted the Avengers at the party was a really impressive scene, Ultrons voice was evil and it was the kind of voice that strikes fear into the audience.

This film welcomed Elizabeth Olson as Scarlet Witch and Aaron Johnson as Quick Silver, I thought Quick Silver was a really boring character and (spoiler) his death should have been a heart wrenching scene but I felt like it was just skipped over and dismissed which really annoyed me. Scarlet Witch was however, a great addition. She added some well needed femininity to the film and Elizabeth Olson was fantastic despite her slightly dodgy accent! Hopefully this improves before we see her character again.

Overall, this film wasn't ground breaking and you can really tell that it had been cut in length because it felt like it was missing vital developments and also some much needed individuality between characters and stories. I think that because my hopes weren't high, this film impressed me. I really did enjoy it but it could have been better. A lot better.

Top Left to Bottom Right: Never To Old For Rocket Shaped Crumpets - Delicious Iced Chocolate - New Cath Kinston Mug - My Sleepy Little Jellybean - No Such Thing As Too Many Guineapigs - Mango Peach Salsa

I had intended to do these posts every two weeks but apparently I have been a very boring instagrammer recently! These are the only non blog related images I have posted in the past 4 weeks...

So considering how boring they are, I thought I would talk about some of them.

The crumpets may have been cute but apparently kids arnt allowed good food these days, they tasted like cardboard. Literally.

Cocoba is a cafe/coffee shop in Bluewater, there is only one store so far but they are so awesome that I am certain more will pop up soon. This was a salted caramel iced chocolate and I was in heaven.

Boyfriends last name is fish so when I saw this Cath Kidston fish mug, I knew I had to have it.

My little boy guineapig, Popcorn has been pretty ill recently with an eye infection and neurological issues which have caused him to loose balance and had a wonky head. He is looking so much better but the wonky head seems to be permanent. But it makes him look like a cute confused Pug Puppy, makes me melt.

I never post these sort of things but it literally describes my life. Guineapigs everywhere!

Mango Peach Salsas by Yankee Candle is my new favourite. I am so in love with it, its the most fresh and sweet smell ever. The large jar is on my wishlist.

Summer Essentials: Things To Do

One   Two   Three   Four   Five   Six

Again, this will act as more of a personal favourites. I have linked the places that I like to go specifically but these are all activities that are available in a wide variety of places. These are places I like to visit every year or places like them because they never fail to make me happy both by the people I go with, the memories those places have or the sheer beauty of the place. Your own memories and places may be different to mine but I hope that my favourites inspire you this summer.

1. Zoos and Farms

My two favourites are Dartmoor Zoo in Devon and Howletts Zoo in Canterbury, I have linked Dartoor because it is a huge tourist attraction and would be most enjoyable for the majority of people. Howletts honestly is a mediocre zoo but it does have the cutest Capybaras which are one of my favourite animals and it is also the place that my boyfriend took me on our first date so for this reason it will always be a favourite of mine. Dartmoor is a magical zoo which gives you the opportunity to touch the animals and walk among them. This is like heaven for me as I think I like animals more than humans!

2 Long Car Journeys

I live in a small village surrounded my countryside and fields of gorgeous animals so a drive around the area is amazing but my favourite is a long drive through the countryside in the direction of the sea. Not knowing quite where we are going but just enjoying the breeze and singing along to our favourite summer songs. My and the boyfriend used to do this a lot when we had more time but we will definitely attempt to fit some in this year.

3. Picnics in Country Parks

My and my boyfriend love to go to the supermarket stock up on delicious foods and take them to Jeskins Country Park which is not far from where we live. There is a huge treehouse which looks out over fields and walks, I can see the cows and people walking their dogs and I just love it. We sit up in the treehouse, stuff our faces and just laugh for hours until its so cold that we have to go home. This is my favourite park but I'm sure there is a local one to you that you can enjoy just as much!

4. Beach

Im not much of a sunbather and I don't go in the sea but I love walking along the seafront, eating fish and chips looking out to sea and looking in seaside shops. I haven't visited many beaches abroad in my adult years but my favourite beaches of recent years are Ilfracombe in Devon and Broadstaires in Thanet. Broadstaires is only an hours drive from my home and it had lovely little shops and old fashioned restaurants, arcades and it is just a lovely place to visit on a sunny day. I have been doing this since I was a kid. Ilfracombe is a new favourite of mine, the past two years I have gone to Devon on holiday and I have fallen in love with it. It is not your typical beach, it has rocks to climb, tunnels and is the most beautiful place to photographs. Sitting on a rooftop pub garden looking out to sea is my ultimate happy place.

5. Arcades

I honestly don't know what it is about the summer but I become a crazed arcade addict. I just get such a thrill from winning crappy soft toys and wasting money in 2p machines! Such a child but me and my boyfriend have always loved it and it is something we do together fairly often. Especially in the summer.

6. Swimming

I am not a strong swimmer and I don't have a pool so when we go on holiday the boyfriend and me always get up extra early so we can go to the pool before anyone else. We love having the whole pool to ourselves, while he swims lengths, I float with my eyes closed and soak up the sun. It is the only thing that will get me out of bed early.

So these are my favourite summer things to do! I feel like this was quite a personal post which is something id love to do more of in the future. Let me know if you would like this and also what your essential things to do in the summer are! This also completes my summer essentials series! I hope you liked it and I will definitely do more series in the future.

Summer Essentials: Food and Drink

This is more of a favourites I suppose but these are the food and drink items I could NOT go a whole summer without. These seven things are favourites of mine year after year and I don't see that changing any time soon!

I hate feeling hot and sticky so I love cold things in the summer, like most people do I'm sure. So many people still drink tea and coffee in the summer but personally I avoid it all summer long in favour of something icy and refreshing. Ever heard people tell you that hot drinks actually cool you down? What a load of rubbish!

1. Seaside Chips

I enjoy a good fish and chips takeaway anytime of the year but the chips always taste better when eaten on the seafront. Actual seaside chip shops also seem to taste better that my local ones, I have no idea why! I also love seagulls so throwing them the odd chip really makes me happy. Such a classic english summertime food.

2. Water

I don't drink enough water, I find just bottled water or tap water really boring but I do enjoy it when the whole glass is filled to the top with ice. When it is hot and my throat is dry, ice cold water is the most refreshing thing in the world. I know it is healthy and important to drink lots of water but often I find myself reaching for a sugary option, sometimes I go a whole day without drinking anything. This year I am determined to drink loads of water!

3. Ribena Ice Lolly

When the decision is between ice lolly and ice cream I always choose ice lolly. It is healthier and it is so much more refreshing! Ribena is the lolly of choice, I am addicted to Ribena so in lolly form it is literally heaven. I could eat 20 in a row no problem.

4. BBQ's

The best thing about summer is family bbq's, getting to see everyone and all the kids having fun. Getting a paddling pool out, the smell of burger cooking and drinking cocktails. My favourite bbq food is a big juicy burger with cheese, all food tastes better when cooked on a bbq. I also love to take a disposable bbq to the beach and cook on the seafront, the food never tastes as good but its so much fun!

5. Lipton Ice Tea

In the summer I try to avoid fizzy drinks because they just aren't as refreshing in my opinion, so instead I usually chose a Lipton Ice Tea in Peach. It is so unbelievably refreshing, delicious and won't go flat like a coke would when your carrying it around all day. I also really like the lemon flavour but peach is definitely the best!

6. McFlurry

Unfortunately for any diet I have ever done, I loooooveee McDonalds. Especially McFlurrys. My favourite flavour ever is the Chocolate Brownie but it is special edition sadly, although there has never been a McFlurry I didn't enjoy. To be extra naughty, I always get extra sauce and toppings. My boyfriend and me like to go on late night drives when the sun is all pretty, sing along to our favourite music and go get a McFlurry together.

7. Ribena

I have already mentioned the Ribena Lolly but I also cant do summer without Ribena the drink. My favourite is the strawberry one, we always get a big bottle for at home and have huge glasses of ice cold Ribena in the sun. Blame my boyfriend for getting me addicted to this, I never really drank it before I met him!

I must seem like a total pig, not a healthy thing here! Honestly, I'm not a fan of healthy things. I am very picky with my food so don't expect any healthy recipes on this blog! Id be interested to know what things you guys like in the summer, let me know so I can try them myself!

Summer Essentials: Clothing and Accessories

One   Two   Three   Four   Five   Six

When the weather is hot you just want to be outside not at home deciding what to wear, ironing clothes and worrying about washing clothes. Disgusting as it sounds but I like simple clothing that doesn't need to be washed often such as denim and items that can be worn everyday while still looking cute. I live in these items all through the summer months and I feel like you wouldn't need much else, just mix and match the items and get cami tops in different colours and patterns!

The images are options but these items really can be found anywhere, it is more about the style than the store with these items so it really is great for everyone.

1. Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses are sold everywhere in all different colours and styles, for all different price ranges. I honestly think there is a maxi dress to suit every body shape, it can however be a challenge for short girls such as myself to find the right length. Try midi dresses instead as often they are maxi on me! You can wear this with a denim jacket or over a bikini, it can be worn in the day time or dressed up for the evening. The best part is that if you forget to shave your legs you can still look summery! Maxi dresses are also unbelievably comfortable and breezy which is just the dream for summertime.

2. JuJu Jellies

You can buy jellies anywhere but I do suggest you get the original Juju Jellies because the cheaper alternatives will give you blisters but these surprisingly are the most comfortable shoes you will ever wear. Literally ever, they are like clouds for your feet. I wear these all summer long with every outfit, as a person who is rather weary of the sea and the creatures that live in it, you can also wear these shoes in the sea to protect your feet. They are so well made, I wore them all last year and they are still in perfect condition to wear all this year too. They come in an array of colours but I think black is great for versatility.

3. Cami Tops

These are also sold everywhere but Matalan and Primark sell them in every colour and they are a complete bargain. Camis in this particular cut flatter a larger body shape as well as a small one, I find them great to cover my pot belly but show off my boobs. They can be worn with the shorts and the jellies for a cute simple daytime outfit or dressed up with some bold jewellery for the evening.

4. Denim Shorts

Denim shorts are the pinnacle of summer, you just need to have them. You can buy them from a store such as the ones above from Topshop but I find it best to use an old pair of jeans and cut them yourself. Maybe you have a plain of jeans that are tatty and worn that you don't wear anymore, these are the ones to use. If you don't have an old pair, head to the charity shops and explore the rails for the perfect pair to diy. This method is both cheap but also the best one to have something one of a kind. The more worn the better.

5. Denim Jacket

You can track these down on the hughstreet but charity shops are riddled with them at bargain prices just waiting to be your new summer staple. I have an old beaten up one that I got from a charity shop and I love it. I paid about £5 and its Levi so it is fantastic quality. Again, the more worn the better.

6. Sunglasses

I like to buy a new pair every year so I don't see the point on buying expensive shades that I will soon get bored of. I find the best places to cheap and fashionable frames are Forever 21 and Primark. I got these ones from Forever 21 and they look far more expensive than their tiny price tag, the look great and really finish off a summer outfit. You need sunnies especially is you drive because the sun will block your vision and make driving difficult, of course also to protect your eyes from the sun.

These are my clothing and accessories essentials for summer, these work for me but by all means let me know if you know an essential that I am missing! What do you wear when the sun is out?

Summer Essentials: Make-Up

One   Two   Three   Four   Five   Six   Seven

I have decided that in the spirit of summer to start a series on based on Summer Essentials, I will post 5 posts over the next 5 days in hope of sharing some wisdom on the dreaded issues of summer, how to solve them and also throw in some things that are just great to have in the summer time.

As the title says, this first post is on make-up. I have tried to choose products that will work for a lot of different skin types but I cant promise that what works for me will work for you, these are my essentials...

1. The Body Shops - Body Butter in Cocoa Butter

Every year I go to The Body Shop with the hope of getting a different scent that year and somehow always end up with this one. I love sweet smells, I can think of nothing better than smelling of chocolatey goodness. I use this on my legs, hands, elbows and anywhere else the sun decides to dry out. I think this is a great scent choice as it is delicious, summery and won't attract bugs like some of the fruitier scents would. I got lemon one year and ended up as a dessert for insects.

2. Maybelline - Baby Lips

Tinted lip balms are amazing for summer because you get a little colour as well as avoiding nasty chapped lips. I am lucky that I don't suffer with chapped lips so these work great for me to just add a little softness. I think they would also work well for those who do have chapped lips because they are sooooo moisturising but you might want to choose a less pigmented colour to avoid the colour gathering in the cracks of your lips. There are plenty of colours to chose from.

3. Benefit - Roller Lash

Most people would recommend a waterproof mascara but I HATE the stuff. You shouldn't wear makeup in the water anyway, it is bad for your skin and thats the last thing to want in the summer time. But you will need a good quality mascara that won't smudge when you sweat, this is that mascara. Its completely smudge proof and it gives long, curled, fluttery lashes that look gorgeous! When the rest of your face is pretty bare, eyelashes can make such an impact.

4. Soap and Glory - Make Yourself Youthful, Sunshield Superfluid. SPF50

I think it is best to let your skin breathe in the summer, no foundation. I am not a fan of BB or CC creams either because they can look awful if your skin is dry which mine can be. Sun Cream is a must to keep your skin moisturised and protect from the suns harmful rays, this one has SPF 50 so it will take great care of your skin, put this all over your face and let it sink in before adding any other make-up.

5. Barry M - Gelly Nails

I have never really used Barry M in the past but these polishes just keep calling to me and once I tried them, I fell in love. They are available in tons of summery colours, they glide on perfectly and last for agesss! Completely chip free. I will definitely be buying a few more colours to keep my fingers pretty all summer long.

6. Urban Decay - Naked Flushed

Foundation is a no go for me but a little cheek colour is a must. The palette included a beautiful blush, a contour/bronzer shade to give a summery glow and a highlighter to illuminate your cheek bones. It is the perfect little compact palette to give your face some dimension.

7. Urban Decay - Vice 3

And finally, this palette is amazing. Packed full of summer ready colour and a helping of neutrals as well. I like to use an eyeliner brush to stroke a brightly coloured slick of eyeliner on, they can also be used for a more intense night look. This palette can be used to give a little colour to the day time or a bolder look for the long evenings drinking cocktails. You can also use the brown shades to fill in your eyebrows.

And that is my make-up essentials, I would also recommend a clear mascara to keep your eyebrows perfect and a make-up setting spray to keep this all in place. This is just the items that I feel necessary so by all means add a few of your own and let me know what I am missing!

Why Am I So Angry?

I am a very pessimistic person, I am always convinced things will go wrong and then most of the time they do. I probably bring it on myself but how do you get out of this sort of rut? How do you stop being so angry, stop getting so aggravated over silly things, how to you stop caring about what other people think or do?!

These are a few things that are driving me mad at the moment..

1. Driving all the way into university for a meeting and it being a waste of time, its so far to go for nothing!

2. My neighbours hideously messy garden which is spilling rubbish into mine.

3. Other drivers! I am certain that 95% of the world are imbeciles who shouldn't be allowed on the road

4. Bad communication at work and university. I hate not knowing exactly whats going on. I cant understand why people aren't as efficient as I am.

5. I work in a restaurant and I cant stand when people don't know what they are ordering then looking at like I'm the idiot when I have to ask them countless questions just so I can get the order right.

6. When people don't respond to my emails and the panic of thinking they have ignored me

7. When I go to my local shop and they have absolutely nothing that I wanted and the staff are all the stupidest people on planet earth

8. Everything in the whole universe being so bloody expensive, I work so hard and I still can't afford anything

9. The fact that my guinea-pigs seem to get sick every week and cost me a fortune in vets bills, why the hell does it cost the same to take a guinea pig to the vet as it does to take a golden retriever!?

10. My car also hates me, seems to love to break and cost me a fortune

So the fact of the matter still remains, how do you stop being so irritated and angry? I honestly don't know. I cant change the way other people act, I cant change the way they influence my life and I cant see how I can stop being so bothered by it all. Its not healthy to be this angry! I really am considering hibernation just so I can avoid everything.

What do you guys think?

SUMMER

"Winter’s a good time to stay in and cuddle but put me in summer and I’ll be a… happy snowman!" Frozen, Olaf

The sun is finally out and I am really getting excited!

Summer hasn't always been my favourite but last year was one of the best summers I've ever had! I had an amazing holiday to Devon with my boyfriend, the weather was beautiful and it truly is one of my favourite places. We lived by the seaside at the time so it always felt happy, sea breeze, happy seagulls to make friends with. It was a great summer, although we no longer live by the sea and this is the last summer of me being a student with endless freedom, I am determined to make this summer just as great!

I have made a little list of all the things id like to do this summer!

1. Get our garden looking summer ready

2. Spend more time in the garden with my guinea pigs, letting the little lawnmowers eat some grass

3. Although we might not be able to afford to this year, hopefully another holiday to Devon

4. Stop eating so much junk food so I might have a chance of looking acceptable in a bikini

5. Lots of trips to the seaside to eat fish and chips while laying on the beach

6. ICE CREAM AND BBQ'S!

7. Wearing the crap out of my JuJu Jellies

8. Being outside and just being with the boyfriend and our families

9. Walking my pup in country parks

10. Getting a tan on my pasty meatball of a body

These are my top ten thing I am most excited about! But despite this there are a fair few things I cant stand about summer so I though id let you in on those as well.

1. Bugs! These little pests can be really irritating when you have guinea pigs, they bit them and they think hutches are a free home. Spiders also like to surprise me in the dark.

2. Sweating is disgusting

3. Working in a restaurant which I do, is horrific in the summer. Too many happy people rubbing it in my face

4. Constant fear of being pooped on by a seagull or stung my a bee. It has never happened to me in 22 years, its just a matter of time

5. Finally, I have a huge fear of jellyfish which means I cant go in the sea.

Wow! I feel like there are so many more things to be excited about! Maybe ill do a part two to this post? What do you think? Comment and let me know if you would like that!

Beauty Review: Collection - Cream Puff Lip Cream

Collection is a brand known for small price tags, they are a huge hit with the younger more inexperienced make-up wearers. When I was first getting into make-up it was definitely a brand that I used a lot, I remember those products not having the best staying power and sometimes not having the nicest packaging but I haven't used any of their products in years. With the blogging world really loving them at the moment, I thought I would give them another go!

I am loving liquid matte lipsticks at the moment, I find them great for lazy girls like me who just don't want to top up their product after every sip of drink so when I saw these Cream Puff Lip Creams and their tiny £2.99 price tag, I just had to buy two!

They are available in four shades, two pink shades and two nude shades. I think firstly these colours are not for everyone, they will not suit all skin tones (especially the nudes) and they really could do with there being a red colour because everyone loves a red! I purchased Cotton Candy and Powder Puff.

They apply wonderfully, they slide onto the lips in a creamy smooth consistency and one dip in the tube will do your whole mouth. They smell delicious, like cake. Whats not to love about cake! Both shades are truly a dream to apply!

Powder Puff

This is the lightest shade in the collection, it is a very yellow based nude. It doesn't suit me in all honestly, I definitely think it would suit a dark skin tone more because it seems to just wash out my colouring. It is very sheer compared to Cotton Candy which isn't a bad thing. It glides onto the lips and looks very natural but you do have to be careful not to layer the colour, this just causes caking and a visible lipstick ring of death on the inner lip. I did find however that this is a great product to use on top of other lip colours as it gives a dusky glaze to all colours which I have been doing a lot recently which I am loving! This fact is really making me love this product!

Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy is a beautiful dusky barbie pink shade and I love it! It smells insanely good and it keeps this smell through out the day, the feel of the product on the lips is so soft and a real treat to wear. It feels like a lip balm in a way. The colour really suits me and I think that this is a colour that the majority of skin tones can pull off, it is a bright colour but also somehow very wearable for day to day.

Overall

These Lip Creams have good staying power, they don't last as long as the more expensive comparisons but the product does wear off easily so can be reapplied in no time at all. The shade range needs a few additions but all in all, these are great products. Creamy, deliciously scented and long wearing, an absolute bargain! If you are on a budget like me, I urge you to buy these! You will not regret it!

They can be purchased from drugstores such as Boots and Superdrug.

Music Review: The Wombats - Glitterbug 7/10

The Wombats were huge when I was a teen but I was never a fan. I didn't have my little indie kid phase, I went straight from pop to hardcore so I am not hugely familiar with The Wombats earlier releases but my boyfriend is a die hard fan and he bombarded me with their music since the first single, I had no choice but he hear it! So much so that I was as excited as he was for this release!

Firstly lets look at the album title and cover art. I am a sucker for great cover art as an artist myself, I really love this. I reminds me of Taylor Swifts theme for 1989, which is ironic really because usually these artists couldn't be more different but these albums are both 80's themed and use collage styles and city visuals in their artworks. "Glitterbug" is a beautiful name which matches perfectly with the glitter and glam of the 80's theme and the twinkling lights of the city which they represent in a way.

The track themselves are hit and miss for me, I have been reading reviews myself in preparation and as far as I can tell this album hasn't been well received mostly. Considering the hype I do think this album is a slight let down as the singles really are the best tracks which upsets me because usually I find that the real gems in most albums are album tracks. Don't get me wrong this is not a bad album by far, for the most part it is a great album but it has its downfalls. I will review the album track by track as I feel this is the best way to get a real idea of what is worth listening to and what might require a skip...

Emoticons

This song isn't my favourite, most people seem to love it but I'm just not feeling it. I can't really pin point exactly why, its a slow paced song with a cliched hook. Its worth a listen and you may love it but usually I skip it.

Give Me A Try

I think this song is one of the best songs on the album, its cheeky and cheerful. Its a guy begging a girl to give him a try and just be open minded about him. This is the single that made me so excited for the album.

Greek Tragedy

Amazing song. Possible the best on the album. It begins with slow twinkling wind chime sound and then bursts into the song with an amazingly catchy beat. The lyrics are great on this track, it seems like a love song but the contrasting music video shows a fan who is completely obsessed with the band. The video may be the best part. Major album highlight.

"She hits like ecstasy, comes up and bangs the sense out of me"

Watch the video here.

Be Your Shadow

Theres always a song on an album that will get stuck in your head first. That is also always the song you get bored of first. That is this song. It is catchy, the beat is smooth and seamless. It is a good song and currently I'm really feeling it but I can already tell that I am going to get bored soon, it doesn't have longevity.

Headspace

This feels like its straight from the 80's, it would have fit perfectly on the soundtrack for "Drive". The lyrics are a bit weak, it is a simple song that doesn't pack a punch but it is enjoyable. It is a relaxing song which definitely isn't a skipper but its not a future single either.

This Is Not A Party

On first listen I didn't like this song, the lyrics felt wrong and the main hook felt clumsy. Such as the lyric  "Charlie's coming onto every person he can touch" really should have been "...every person he can see" It just fits better, the song is definitely rushed lyrics wise. I persevered though and it has really grown on me, the lyrics "I dream in technicolour but I live in black and white" are awesome, they really sum up how young people feel especially myself. It might be one of my favourites now, I think its a marmite song, you will love it or hate the shit out of it.

Isabel

This is the only ballad on the album which is a good thing because they clearly don't do them well. Its not a bad song but it is boring. Really boring. The lyrics are quite beautiful in some place such as "..you can't leave me alone laying in this bed, covered in your sweat and my fears" now that is a lyric. It really is one of the only redeeming qualities. The song also has some rather awful lyrics such as..

"Did they teach you all of this is a school around here"

"I think its you thats the true rockstar around here"

They are just awful and I cant believe they actually made it onto the album,  childish and fumbling just like the lyrics on "This is not a party"

Your Body Is A Weapon

This single has been out for so bloody long I'm not sure it even deserves to be on this album, not because its bad but it came out over a year and a half ago which seems ridiculous. This song sounds like their old stuff, its a good upbeat party song, the indie kids will love it. It will get them all up dancing in their skinny jeans with the girls swinging their fringes while wearing a band t. Probably for a band they have never listened too, ever.

The English Summer

Again, reviewers love this one but for me its a skipper. I don't like it, its bumpy and cliched. Another song that you may enjoy but for me, it is exactly the reason I've never liked them before. I like smooth production and this sounds like some shitty garage band have recorded it themselves on a mac, works for some but not for me. Skip.

Pink Lemonade

I think this is my favourite on the album, it is so summery and perfect. The sun has only just made an appearance where I live so this sound just feels like a long car drive drinking a bottle of pink lemonade on the way to the beach with the boyfriend. I feel like a moment in time which is something I love in a song.

"I don't want to be the blinking rabbit to your wilder beast"

Lyric wise, it talks about a girl cheating on her boyfriend and his asking her not to rub it in his face, he is a scared rabbit and she is a wilder beast hurting him, breaking his heart. These lyrics is perfect.

Curveballs

This is my boyfriends favourite song on this album and I do think it is pleasing to the ear. I feels smooth and sexy, I really like it. My only negative is that the lyrics could have been deeper. It talks about being in love with a girl who is making things hard to love her. It is a deep subject and this wasn't explored as well as it could have been in the lyrics, a little depth would have really benefited this song.

Bonus Tracks: Sex and Question Marks
 : Flowerball

Bonus track for me are usually the best sounds on an album, this is often the case but with these two bonus track, the album would have been better off without them. The arne't terrible but I can't say I would care if they didn't exist. What the fuck is a flowerball?

Overall, I like this album. For the most part it is lighthearted and happy. A nice summery car album, I can imagine myself driving fast with the windows down singing along. You might have to skip a few but it is still a good effort for The Wombats.

If you are ok with a few flops and hollow lyrics here and there then you might well enjoy this offering. There are definitely some great tunes in here.

Movie Review: The Duff 9/10

A week ago I read and reviewed The Duff book in preparation of seeing the movie, I was really excited for this because embarrassingly or not my favourite genre is teen. Teen films are easy to watch, funny and just light hearted, I feel like I can watch them over and over again. Due to this reason I was already familiar with some of the actresses such as Bella Thorne who is a Disney Channel Queen and also Skyler Samuels who has has countless small parts in teen shows and movies, both girls are talented little gems. Newbie Mae Whitman who plays the title character, Bianca, really gives the role her all and she is fantastic. She will have a long career ahead of her for sure.

As I mentioned in the book review, the film does not follow the books story pretty much at all. The main idea of the Designated, Ugly, Fat, Friend is the same and the love interest between Bianca and Wes is the same but every other detail is different. The thing is, the film was great. Really funny and enjoyable but the story didn't need to be changed to do this. The original story would have been equally as good. This fact just bothers me because the book was better, the book was slightly raunchy and sexy which the film is not, obviously due to the teen audience but thats no excuse in my opinion.

The boyfriend and I have been quoting the film since we saw it.

"Is that a weener in your mouth or are you just happy to see me?"

"Start dressing more like you and less like Wreck It Ralph"

The film really is funny and I thoroughly enjoyed it, loved it even. There is no one scene that I can say I loved the most because it was genuinely great all the way through. I already know this film won't get the reception it deserves which is a shame but I will most definitely be buying it on dvd when it comes out. It will be perfect addition to be insanely huge collection of teen movies.

Final Major Project

If I haven't already mentioned, I am a Fine Art student in my last year and I am nearing the end of my course. For my final major project I am looking at the infra-ordinary, the way animals see the world and the way humans see the world in comparison.

Infra-Ordinary is a term used to describe the things that go missed. The things that people ignore or assume to be pointless and therefore overlook, what is under our wallpaper and carpets, who else has walked on the floors we have. I wanted to look at the details that an animal might see because of the level they live at in a human world and in turn force humans to see the things they ignore everyday. The markings on the floor, the details that are so small that we really have to work to see.

It is all about seeing our world differently and learning to see more of that world.

Below are some of the images I have taken for this project...

I will be posting photographs of my final show and how the project is displayed soon!

Wishlist: Shore Projects Watches

I am graduating university soon and as my graduation present from my boyfriend I have asked for a watch. I have never been much of a watch person but I feel like with the next step in my life being starting a career and essentially becoming a grown up, a watch is something that will be great to have at this point in my life. My boyfriend graduated last year and I bought him a superdry watch so I suppose it is sort of a graduation tradition for us.

I have been researching for such a long time for that perfect watch that I can wear forever and ever, I was about to give up because I just couldn't find anything I could imagine myself wearing everyday for the foreseeable future when I came across Shore Projects.

I wanted something I would never get bored of and was great quality. Shore Projects watches are purchased as the watch face and then the straps separately, I thought this was perfect for me. When I get bored which inevitably I will, I can buy a new strap and not have to buy a whole new watch! This feature means that you can have both quality and be able to keep up with different trends. These watches are beautiful!

I have already chosen the watch face that I want, I have chosen the rose gold face because it is gorgeously feminine and will look great with my pink tinted pale skin.

Is that not the most amazing thing you have ever seen?!

These watches are expensive but they are so worth it in my opinion, the website has a bundle deal which is £170 for the watch face and three straps of your choice. I haven't chosen them yet because I think I will leave that to my boyfriend to chose because I love a surprise and he has great taste.

These are the strap choices currently available...

This brand also originates in Whitstable, Kent and also takes inspiration from there. Whitstable has a lot of memories for me which makes these watches even more perfect. I can't wait to hopefully own one!

Wishlist: Yankee Candle

I have never been into candles, I felt like they were too expensive just for a "smell" which is also why I don't buy expensive fragrances. But in the last year I have really started to enjoy them! I am fussy with smells, flower scents make my want to throw up and why the hell would you want your house to smell like baby powder or the beach?! I want my house to smell like cake! I mostly get tarts for my burner so that I don't have to commit to one smell but I do currently have a large jar of the vanilla cupcake which is nearing its end. So I have started investigating my next purchase...

Bunny Cake is a sweet, sickly and delicious children's birthday cake smell. Sounds like hell to some people but those smells just scream childhood happiness to me and that is exactly the way I want my home to smell. It is a special easter edition candle so I am hoping it will soon be in the sale!

I haven't yet had the chance to smell Jelly Beans but when on the Yankee Candle website I came across this one I just knew it would love it. I can't wait to head to my local store and bury my nose in it. I imagine it to smell like arcades, party bags and just general sweet deliciousness. Im not sure the boyfriend would approve of this one though!

I bought a tart of this one a few weeks ago, I wasn't sure at first but once it was lit the whole house just filled with the most lovely smell. It is the perfect mix of sweetness and fresh fruit. I am not usually a fan of fruity smells but this is so nice! I am seriously leaning towards this one! The boyfriend loves it too!

Strawberry Buttercream smells an awful lot like the Vanilla Cupcake one I already have. It is sickly sweet, exactly like fresh buttercream. I literally just want to eat it! But do I need another candle like one I already have? Hmmm...

So overall, I still can't decide! Maybe Mango Peach Salsa? It's so different to what I would usually buy, should I risk it? Comments on this welcomed!

Book Review: The Duff By Kody Keplinger 10/10

With the imminent release of The Duff movie adaptation I decided that before seeing the film I would read the book. I try and do this with every book adaptation I see.

As far as I can tell, the movie doesn't follow the same story as the book which bothers me a little I must admit. It is my pet peeve with adaptations. I can deal with a few necessary changes but changing the whole story is rather annoying, especially when the book is as good as this one!

It's a teenage tale of a girl who is told by a boy in her class that she is the "Designated, Ugly, Fat, Friend" of her friendship group. She then starts a sexual affair with this boy to help her forget about the troubles in her life such as divorcing parents, ultimately she falls for this boy and he falls for her. It is a simple story but it is a fast paced read (took me a day) and it keeps you captivated from beginning to end. The whole book is just a light hearted love story and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it, I was heartbroken when I finished it because I just wanted to keep reading!

It is very well written, tackles some serious issues as well as simple teenage ones. From the trailers for the movie I think that the casting really matches well and I am really excited to see it! Although my local cinema doesn't see to be playing it! First World Problems.

Read it before you see the film, it is a great easy reading book. I will be reading a few more by Kody Kiplinger for sure.

Beauty Review: Benefit - Roller Lash

I usually don't splurge on mascaras because lets be honest, you can get a mascara just as good from a cheaper brand. I had previously been using the Primark PS Beauty Mascara which I thought was really great considering it's tiny £1 price tag, I have very long lashes anyway so I am very lucky to be able to get away with this!

A lot of people rely on mascara to curl, lengthen, colour their lashes and those people with more demands of a mascara might need to spend a little more in my opinion. I have always thought those people with lashes such as mine wouldn't need this but Roller Lash is worth the money no matter what your natural lashes are like!

My lashes with Roller Lash applied.

I would never have tried this mascara if not for Elle magazine having a sample size as the freebie, I had never tried Benefit at all before now because although I find the marketing and packaging gorgeous, I have never found myself lusting after something from the brand enough to spend the money. I am so glad I got the chance to try Roller Lash! Without a doubt I will be purchasing a full size once my generous sample size runs out.

Look at my lashes! They touch my eyebrows! NO JOKE!

The wand makes it so easy to roll your lashes through the plastic bristles which gently pulls the colour and length through my lashes. I can't see the curl because I have very curled lashes anyway and this mascara didn't curl them further...so I can't determined whether this feature works but in every other way I am in LOVE.

Something I do not like about cheaper mascara is the way they create a stiff feel to the lashes, Roller Lash doesn't do this at all. The lashes are bendable and fluttery, they feel almost natural but have the look of feathery fake lashes (not in a tacky way). It last all day and I feel that my whole face looks transformed by them, they make my eyes looks so open and amazing!

I think this is a great product, the packaging is beautiful and the product is insanely good. This may vary for different lash types but for me it is holy grail. I will be buying the full size!

Movie Review: Get Hard 7/10

I will start by saying that I don't always find Will Ferrell funny, I love Elf and Step Brothers but other than those two I'm not a fan. I HATE Anchorman. HATE IT! So please bare this in mind while reading this review.

This movie is about Will Ferrell's character being framed for a crime he did not commit and enrolling a black man he assumed had been to prison to teach him how to survive prison. For a start this is exactly the same story as Rob Schneider's Bad Stan, I am a massssssive Rob Schneider fan and this annoyed me a little I must admit. But thankfully after watching the film, I realised that they are from from the same. Although, I still prefer Big Stan but this is down to which actor you find the funniest.

Kevin Hart is a funny guy, I wasn't familiar with him before this film so this was a nice surprise. Hart and Ferrell have great chemistry, this really benefited the film, they work off each others very different comedic styles which is crucial to a film of this kind. I did find some of the jokes insulting, racist and simply just too far which was mostly down to Ferrell, this is partially why I am not a fan of his but i'll admit a lot of the other jokes had me laughing pretty damn hard. The rest of the people at the cinema were in stitches, including my boyfriend so this film must be doing something right!

I felt that the second half of the film was really good, I was laughing, the story was heartwarming to see two people become friends in a difficult situation, both learn to look at people different to themselves differently than they did. The first half was slow and clumsy but the second half definitely made up for that.

Ultimately, the story was weak and the comedy could be dodgy in places. It'll never be my favourite film but it might be one of my favourites of Will Ferrell's films.

It is worth of a watch but it won't change the world with it's deep message...

A few moments...
