Album Review: Ariana Grande - Dangerous Women 9/10

I've haven't posted in almost a month and I'm sorry, I'm useless! But what better way to come back that with a review for a hugely raved about album by the beautiful Ariana Grande?!

I am a big Ari fan like almost everyone by this point but I wasn't too excited for this album because I've always found her singles to be better than the actual albums. Don't get me wrong, I liked her previous albums but they won't make it onto my list of faves. Now, when the lead single Dangerous Women came out I wasn't impressed, not that is was bad but it felt throw away and hollow but then Miss Grande starting releasing a song a day up until the release of the album, I slowly fell in love....

1. Moonlight

Moonlight is a cute song, it shows off Ari's beautiful voice but for me it feels less progressed than the rest of the album which makes it a bizarre opening track in my opinion. It's a good song but I would have hoped for a bigger bang to open with!

2. Dangerous Women

The more I listen the more I love it but ultimately I feel like this is a cheap single. Simply written and tailored to get people to buy the album, it doesn't feel like this new Ariana we have gotten to know. Many would disagree however!

3. Be Alright

This song is a euphoric gem! This is where the album really starts to pick up and fall into character. It's so on trend as well, Radio 1 are gonna go crazy for this one! One of my favourites!

4. Into You

This album keeps getting better. This song is a slow building, club worthy banger. I had this stuck in my head for almost a week, I was driving my boyfriend crazy but the chorus is just so incredibly catchy!

5. Side to Side ft. Nicki Minaj

I'm on the fence with this one because I love it but I also hate it. I typically don't like reggae pop style songs such as this one but Side to Side is great to sing along at the top of your voice to and sounds fantastic loud while driving. I don't like Nicki Minaj's section though, none of the lyrics make sense and its just plain annoying in my opinion.

6. Let Me Love You ft. Lil Wayne

This song is a slow, highly sexed song perfect to listen to in the middle of the night. It is so gentle and addicted, I even love Lil Waynes section, he really adds another layer to proceeding and for once, he is a great addition! Another winner.

7. Greedy

Again, another style I usually don't like. This song has a disco pop theme which could easily have been cheesy and irritating but somehow Ari pulls it off effortlessly and slays! I can imagine this being a firm fan favourite!

8. Leave Me Lonely ft. Macy Gray

I like this song. Macy Gray's raspy tone juxtaposes Ari's smooth vocals perfectly and it is a truly beautiful unique pairing. Again, this will surely be a fan favourite but I must admit that i do find it slightly on the boring side.

9. Everyday ft. Future

Another favourite of mine! This song burns itself into your mind with its catchy chorus and pop synth theme. Ari gets a little naughty yet again with the raunchy lyrics and curse words. I love this "Dangerous Women" side of her! Force to be reckoned with!

10. Sometimes

Time for a slow (ish) one. Sometimes offers a chilled moment and allows the listen to recoil just a little.. It is a beautiful song but not the best on the album by far.

11. I Don't Care

This track feels dated to me, it could easily have been present on her first studio album "Yours Truly" it is not a bad song by all means but I feel that she can do better.

12. Bad Decisions

My three favourite songs are now chunked together in the next three tracks, starting with the phenomenally peppy pop goodness that is Bad Decisions. It is such a great sing along track, Ari at her finest!

13. Touch It

Screaming along to this song at the top of my lungs driving home from work is the most fun I've had all week. The build up to the chorus followed by an electric drop is just incredible. Another sexy pop song that I cant get enough of!

14. Knew Better/Forever Boy

This song really annoys me but it is somehow my favourite. It is one track that consists of two songs connected, does that make sense? Both songs are so ridiculously good that I just cant understand why they aren't two separate longer masterpieces? The latter half Forever Boy is probably my favourite moment of the whole album. I don't know what it is but this verse kills me...

Never been with a boy more than six months
I couldn't do it, got too used to it
Ain't nobody ever kept my attention
They couldn't do it, yeah, boy, they blew it

I can't figure out why but everything about that first verse pleases my ears so much!

15. Thinking of You

Rounding the album off nicely we have Thinking of You. It is a slow closer which is exactly what you need after such a wild ride of an album. This song shows off Ari's incredible range while somehow still being a calm and delicate love song that you never want to end.

"Dangerous Women" is a rollercoaster of different sounds that could easily have crashed but somehow blend seamlessly into one incredible package. I am so impressed with this album that I have been listening to it to death since the day it came out!

What do you guys think? Whats your favourite track?
