Primark PS...Super Matte Liquid Lipstick First Impressions/Review

I have explored Primarks beauty range before and found that mostly it does the job but it's nothing to write home about. The range has been on sale for some time now and mostly, it has never changed. Every store I went into had all the same stuff, the same eyeliners, the same two shades of lipstick and the same boring brushes but on a recent trip to Lakeside Shopping Centre I came across this...

PS.....Super Matte Liquid Lipstick

The shade does not have a name but it is a very matte, dusky rose but it is slightly hotter pink than your typical dusky rose.

A lot of cheaper brands have brought out liquid lipsticks so I was interested to see how a bargain £2.00 Primark product would do. I think this is the cheapest option I have come across.

The packaging is really nice, the tube is a sleek, rectangular clear plastic with a matte black plastic screw top containing the applicator. The clear tube is great because you can see the colour of the product without having to read a label or open it up, the font and design is super simple but does the job and the applicator has a long thing sponge tip that works really well at getting product in the corners of the mouth and provides really great precision.

I've found that the product applies best by wiping off excess product and adding to the lips in thin layers until you have the required opacity. I think one layer is the perfect amount but that is a personal preference.

Now to discuss the product itself.

I am very impressed.

The first time I wore it was on a long day out in London followed by a sweaty gig, I ate a delicious Mexican meal, drank, kissed and sang. Not only did the liquid lipstick with stand all these things, it still looked great through out. I did re-apply a few times through out the day and this can sometimes be a risk with liquid lipsticks, I usually find that this causes cracking and flaking but that did not happen at all!

It looked better with every layer!

It stayed smooth and matte, hydrating and looked amazing!

In the photo above, my boyfriend and I were sitting in a crowded venue waiting for The 1975 to come on stage. The liquid lipstick had been on my lips all day and I had just downed a giant cup of Coke. Doesn't it look perfect?

Ultimately, I am so happy with it! I will most definitely be purchasing the other shades and wearing the life out of every single one of them!

Batman V Superman Review 9/10

Batman V Superman has been panned by critics and everyone I had spoken to prior to seeing the film has panned it too. I am a waitress and most of our trade comes from the cinema so i've had the opportunity to speak to a range of different people and get their opinions, all bad!

Now that I have seen the film for myself I can honestly say that I am baffled beyond belief.

Batman V Superman is incredible. One of the best films I have seen in a long time.

Batman V Superman leads on from Man Of Steel, which I didn't like at all. I didn't like the trailers for Batman V Superman and I didn't like the advertising. It all made the film seem like it would be a full on battle between the two heroes, fighting and destruction. Action packed from start to finish. This along with the bad reviews made me very apprehensive about watching the film at all but I think this is a huge part of the problem.

Those who know the comic and know what the story will have been put off because it looked as though the film had been ruined but those who didn't know the comic will have been let down because they were expecting an action packed movie.

The film has it's fair share of action but ultimately this film is about the characters, the build up for things to come and the delicate introduction of future characters. You get to really understand a new darker layer in Batman/Bruce Wayne's character and Superman/Clark Kent finally feels human to the viewer. The film is emotional, artistic and so well thought out. You are fed so much developmental information without feeling like you are drowning in it, it is impressively clever.

There were two scenes that made this film for me.

First, the very film opening credits and the depiction of Bruce's parents death. We've all seen it before but this time it felt different, better. The way Bruce's mothers pearls were features though out the opening scenes, from glinting on her neck to being wrapped around the assailants gun being the only thing between her and death, the pearls scattering as she is killed and rolling down the drain washing away her life in the gutter then falling directly into Bruce's dreams, haunting them. Using these pearls as a seamless connection through life and tragedy was so beautiful. And under appreciated.

I also especially liked the font used in the opening credits, they were so simple but perfect. Reflecting the scene they covered so well.

Second, not to far into the film you see Lois Lane in the bath inspecting a bullet when Clark Kent comes in from work. For me, you finally get to see a real connection between the characters and a huge amount of humanity is finally shown separating Superman from Clark Kent. Something I feel has always been missing. You see his deep love for Lois and their relationship becomes something beautiful. The whole scene is so artistically made, Clark climbs into the bath fully clothed, embracing Lois and flooding the bathroom at the same time. You can't help but fall in love with the couple. You root for them.

Now don't get me wrong, the film had flaws, Lex Luther seems to take too much influence from the Joker, the fight with Doomsday was over a bit quick and the whole film was maybe a little too long but wow, have these flaws been over exaggerated by the critic sheep who all jumped on the bitching band wagon rather than actually assessing the film for themselves, showing an unfortunate ripple effect.

I could yap on for days about why this film was so good but whats the point, if you only take one thing away from this review it is that you shouldn't believe everything you read. Go see the film for yourself and make your own judgement.

Wishlist: FREEDOM

One          Two          Three         Four

I have been hearing so much about the brand Freedom through youtube and blogs for some time now. At first I thought they were just another brand like Revolution and MUA, budget friendly and average quality but I have been hearing quite the contrary!

I've been browsing the Freedom website and found myself lusting after quite a few things! I love a good palette, I own so many but I don't think I'll ever have enough. High end brands are riddled with eyeshadow palettes, highlighters and contour palettes but high street, not so much. You would be lucky to find an eyeshadow palette with more than 10 colours let alone highlighter palettes and contour palettes with such an incredible array of colours. An eyebrow palette is basically unheard of!

The four items above are the ones in my basket ready for checkout...

1. Freedom Pro Highlighter Palette

Just look at the incredible collection of unique but wearable highlighter shades! The more bronze shades look incredible for my pale olive skin tone but would look awesome on a deeper dark skin.

2. Pro HD Brow Palette

If you're a makeup artist this would be great because it has every colour you could ever need for any person but for me personally, I like to use a selection of different shades to create a more natural look. This palette has everything you need to make that happen!

3. Pro 32 Eye Collection

I feel like my makeup collection is missing a few transition shades, this palette caught my eye because it contains almost every colour you could possible need for a beautiful transition shade. It is mostly matte shades which is just perfect!

4. Pro Strobe Cream Palette

I am yet to venture into cream contour territory so this palette would be a great starting point. It has a variety of shades, comes with a brush and is a bargain so if I hate cream contour it won't be such a big deal. So excited to give this a try!

What do you guys think of Freedom makeup?

I'm off to complete my transaction.

Music Review: Ariana Grande - Dangerous Women 3/10

I've been swamped with life and slacking on the blog lately so today I'm back with a review of Ariana Grande's newest highly anticipated single, Dangerous Women.

Unfortunately I'm not all that impressed, it isn't bad but it isn't particularly impressive either. Its not stuck in my head, its not on repeat, in fact, it hasn't even made it only my spotify playlist.

Ariana Grande has an incredible voice but she hasn't quite figured out how to make it her own, she is two albums in now and honestly, it has become time she figures it out. This song is well written and expertly polished but it has no character, she doesn't sound like a Dangerous Women but rather a lost girl in need of a bit of personality.

I  know this review seems harsh but I am a huge Ariana Grande fan and I know she can do better but I'm becoming tired of waiting for it.

Come on Ari! Give us something great!

Zoella Wonder Hand Review

I am a huge Zoella fan but not a huge bath and body fan which is what Zoella Beauty is mostly made up of so when she brought out a hand cream I knew I had to try it! Finally something I might actually enjoy!

I have quite oily skin so I never really need to moisturise, well, I probably need too but its easier to ignore that fact when I never have dry skin. But recently the weather has just been so horribly dry and cold that my hands are needing a little extra attention.

Wonder Hand does the job, it does moisturise but I don't feel like the effects last that long. After an hour I feel like I need it again, it doesn't seem to sink into the skin but rather provide a temporary feeling of moisture if that makes any sense?

Despite this design flaw, I still find myself really enjoying it. The scent is the same scent as the rest of the original Zoella Beauty products and it is a beautiful scent so it is a joy to smother myself in, I would happily apply this every 20mins all day everyday but thats just not practical is it?

The packaging is lovely, feminine and delicate with rose gold details which makes it great for looking good on the bedside table or in the handbag but is that enough?

Ultimately, there are too many if, buts and maybes with this product. It doesn't really work but it is super enjoyable. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend it and I wouldn't buy it again but i'll definitely have fun using up the rest of the tube.
